If there’s something out there in life that you really really want - It’s become so hard to say yes first - and only figure things out later. We’re so afraid of uncertainty and discomfort these days but the truth is, if we’ve got no skin in the game, if we already know something's going to work, if it needs no courage, no leap of faith, it probably also won’t matter. Just because we don’t like ...

    So, in the past I got money conscious. I started actually saving for the first time. I had a few hundred dollars invested in stocks, and the stocks were increasing. The one problem though, at the time I was a raging alcoholic. I ended up getting arrested due to an incident related to alcohol and had to spend a week in jail. I had almost $10,000 in fines and legal costs. I was wiped out financially. So, keep in mind that if you intend on saving money and building wealth, make sure you're not putting yourself in any position that could cost you everything you worked hard for. I haven't caught a buzz or got drunk in a year now as if July 2nd. I now know there's not much that can stop me from making my dreams come true.

    I can confirm: Naming your saving accounts is extremely motivating. I use revolut for my savings - pay check comes in on another account and then I deduct the money from there onto Revolut. I also use Revolut as my daily spending account, loading the card with a weekly budget. That has helped me tremendously to get my spending in order. Especially since I live in a cash free country. Cash is all to often not accepted anymore or seriously annoys the staff ;) what I like about Revolut is that I can name as many saving accounts as I wish to have. I feel like it’s more intuitive and user-friendly than my regular bank. It’s almost fun ;) Surely there are other digital banks like that!

    Same here. Finally quit my „fancy“ job in the contemporary art business that a lot of people envied and always told me how amazing… truth spoken, it was far from amazing - having a burn-out at 33, I quit a mid-level management position. Then I went back as a director at 34 and finally quit last month. Overtime was a give, working six days, being constantly available for rich collectors and their mood swings, working for choleric bosses, bad pay, I worked so much that 50% of my annual holiday was not redeemed, and so forth. The job never aligned with my values and at 36 I figured my life is too precious and short to spend it in a nest of narcissistic egomaniacs. I never regret quitting!

    I have every desire to live life as you do, maybe not in Bali, but folks who say you're faking retirement seriously have no idea that you have "retired" from societies conditioned definition of what retirement or living in general should be. Time is our most valuable asset and no one outside of you could define what that should look or feel like. The people around the world has been tricked into selling their time for money for survival when time is the one commodity you cant put a price tag on. This will be my life very soon, thank you for your inspiration and bravery in sharing your experience with a world full of those passing judgement because you were brave enough to carve your own path and not follow what society deemed the only choice available. You guys are rock stars to me😀

    totally agree. Work makes you sick. You need to wake up and function, even if you couldn't fall asleep the night before or didn't sleep well. I work in a 2-shift system and after 5 years, I feel horrible. I also work in an office, which means I sit most of the day. We work in a warehouse, so we don't have real fresh air and only have artificial light. During breaks, you can either eat some food you cooked before and put in the microwave or get some fast food. So how can all this be healthy? I always wonder how other people handle this stuff, but after this time it just feels depressing and really unhealthy to me. I think of quitting every single day. I have no kids, no debts. The only thing is my 'investment addiction'. I live pretty frugally and invest most of my money so I can retire as soon as possible. But if I quit my job, I might not be able to invest for a long time, also I dont really know what kind of work I like to do. I'm not sure what to do..

But for those who cannot support themselves yet chooses to have no kids, they are selfish and cause societal problems because then they start draining resources when they get old and expect others to take care of them.

    With all due respect but your statements contradict each other. Like you worked in big law firm 7 years yet low savings, Then somehow you quickly mentioned investment property (lol) and then in the middle of the story you reveal that you do actually have savings which are investments in stocks and tiny bit of crypto... and close to the end of story you suddenly mention used to earn big fat salary. I guess the idea of this video was to gain viewers from Finance (that is how it came to my feed while I was listening to something else). But, overall, I am impressed that you could bs around 12 minutes with quite and nice voice. Your might quit law but your lawyer self still bs'ing around. (No hate just annoyed by inaccuracies)

    • @JeanVoronkova
      @JeanVoronkova 2 дня назад

      No big contradictions. Its just not possible to contract 20 years of my life down into a single 8 min video with accuracy and all caveats. I made good money as a lawyer but also spent it all on clubbing, Christian Dior, Prada and keeping up with all my peers generally. Making a good salary (solo income source) plus having zero financial consciousness is basically a recipe to corporate slavery forever. That's my point in many of my videos. It was AFTER i left my corporate life n went out n started working as a freelance surf and yoga instructor that i realised 1) the actual value of money, 2) the power of financial freedom + multiple income streams, and 3) financial savviness is key. Hence the savings and investments BUT i've always been clear i do MINIMAL crypto i don't believe in it myself. There's like 10 videos on my channel detailing the different parts of my journey but end of the day, I was a lawyer, then i quit, then i became a nomad freelancer and an entrepreneur and with minimalism and simple living and investment and dumb luck i guess i actually managed to achieve FF at 38 eventually.
